An Easter Message from Mr Coster
Happy Easter to all of you,
As we reach the end of this Spring term and enter my favourite time in the year I wanted to point our some success and highlights from the last 12 weeks and make you aware of some upcoming dates and happenings as we enter into the Summer.
The Spring saw us start with ballet, there was a triathlon, gifted and talented poetry day, visits to Harlow museum, Harlow schools cup quarter finals, sports relief and raising over £2000 for good causes and of course OFSTED, just to highlight a few events!
A huge debt of gratitude needs to go to all of the staff that have organised and overseen the events that the children have taken part in, yesterday’s year 3+4 production was a true testament to that. However, the OFSTED was a full community effort and I want to thank all of the parents, community partners and children who engaged with the inspection team across the two days. I feel that the judgement was a wonderful validation of all the work we have done over the last 18 months to take what has always been special at Hare Street, and to add some additional quality to that through the sports, performing arts, forest schools and other projects that have taken flight. I hope that you all feel a sense of pride because I certainly do, and pledge that during the next 4 to 5 year cycle you’ll see the same busy, child led culture continue to grow. I’d like to mention Jacob Finn who became the first county competitor of my headship and took part in the Essex schools cross country yesterday, his qualification for that race and his placement in the top half of the field, at his first attempt, are a huge moment for the school. Well done to him.
On that note the Summer will include all the events that you’ve come to expect with parents evening on the 29th of April, the Summer fete on the 5th of July, the SAT’s exams the week beginning the 12th of May. We will have two separate sports days this year on the 23rd of June for EYFS and KS1 and on the 24th of June for KS2. I will confirm more about the details after Easter but with the Key stage 2 sports day we have secured the use of the track and athletics facilities at Mark Hall for the day, so we’re hoping this is the start of yet another new tradition of really going big for this event, and to give the children an unforgettable experience. Finally, we will also host our very first Awards evening at Harlow Town cricket club on Wednesday the 25th of June, this is a chance for all of us to come together to recognise the hard work and success of our children across the school and the wider community, again, more details to follow.
I hope you all have a lovely easter, there is the regular sports club that will be running at school with our friends at Steele sports so please feel to jump onto that if it might help. In terms of uniform, thank you again to all of you that have embraced this, after Easter the children in EYFS and KS1 will be allowed to wear the summer [gingham] dresses if they’d like, along with their cardigan and black school shoes. Children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be wearing the regular uniform and as it get’s hotter we’ll make changes if we need to. Please make sure that if you are looking to order uniform for next year you get in early as create idenitee supply most of the uniform for schools across town. Looking forward to seeing you all back on the 22nd of April.
